CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Ainen Rosso
Age: 500+ years
Canon: Elsword
Canon Point: After Noah leaves for the Demon Realm
Character Information: Wiki link
Personality: Rosso is, at his core, the very embodiment of the flames he wields in battle — that is, extremely quick to ignite and turn any problem he might have into ashes. It is said that those who wield fire magic are said to not only be volatile individuals but also to be quick to extinguish their own flame of life through either recklessness or their own magic, something that holds true for him. Rosso's hotheadedness shows in every action he does — at best, he's quick to anger because one of his companions made a jab at his short height. At worst, he's burning everything around him in a fit of rage, sometimes including friends and loved ones, more out of a loss of control than anything. If a problem cannot be fought with flames and violence, Rosso never quite knows what to do. In fact, if faced with opposition, talking it out peacefully is not an option; beating the opposition into a pulp is almost always the route he takes.
"Almost", because underneath this fiery exterior and deep within the pits of an even hotter core lies someone who genuinely cares about others, though this can be difficult to see. Rosso's emotions mostly come out as "yelling", "screaming", "punching something", and "casting fireball", so naturally, it becomes difficult for anyone but those close to him to see that he has other intentions. Rosso's sense of caring manifests in some off-kilter ways, the biggest of which being how he insists that he'll be the last Fire Master due to the dangers of wielding the element at all. This goal is what keeps him going, but it also causes him to push others away — such as the Fire Priestess Ignia, who unfortunately found herself on the other end of his ire. To Rosso's credit, his rage was because he was secretly concerned about her magic burning her away and killing her young. To his discredit, he did not, at all, handle the situation correctly, which is about how he handles most situations.
When burdened, it seems that Rosso prefers to handle things himself, no matter how stupid or reckless or detrimental they may be. When the large El crystal exploded due to the work of a traitor in their ranks, Rosso travelled to Lanox to pour his powers into a different El crystal so that the land would begin to stabilize after the catastrophe. This was against the will of the first Fire Priestess, who was concerned that his foolhardy behaviour would kill him, and he's quite lucky it did not. However, Rosso himself beegan to destabilize and, as a half-demon, he started going berserk. So that he did not endanger the world at large when he started to lose his mind, Rosso swiftly entered a fissure leading to the Demon Realm, where he would spend the next 500 years sealed into a tower of his own making. This act heroically saved a great deal of the material realm, at the cost of burning away a large portion of the Demon Realm later on.
Rosso is the sort of man whose temper cannot usually be controlled by himself. Rather, Rosso has to be calmed by others first, something his companions are very much aware of. If completely alone, he doesn't seem to have a modicum of emotional control. If around other people, Rosso usually has the good sense to not set fire to everything in the immediate area (although this is debatable in moments of high emotional volatility). He takes his role as Master very seriously, and setting entire cities on fire goes against both his sense of protectiveness as well as the job description in general — since, after all, Masters are responsible for safeguarding the wellbeing of the world at large. All of that being said, when around other Masters, people who Rosso has known for an extremely long time, he's a touch easier to calm — he'll still throw his fits, but it's implied that he's quick to calm down after the Earth Master, Gaia, physically carries him away from the scene or after the Wind Master, Ventus, scoops him up and takes him back home to rest.
He's genuinely responsible though this is, again, often hidden away under endless layers of rage, seen when he fights the series' main characters about their involvement with the El, telling them that guarding over it is "under the jurisdiction of the Masters" and that as outsiders, they should "keep out of [the Masters'] business". Rosso was picked for the role of Fire Master through a rather painful process involving human experimentation to create an "ideal" Master, and even if he states he resents recalling these memories (going so far as to attack others physically when made to remember them), he still does not intend to relinquish his title to anyone. His sense of responsibility further manifests in how, after he leaves the Demon Realm after sealing himself away, he works hard to train himself up after what is essentially a 500-year long coma to make up for his lost strength so that he can better protect the El and therefore the world at large.
